- Jun 17, 2011 I have garage band, and I want to make a six minute mix for school. And I wanted to use parts of songs from youtube. The only way i can do that is if i record part of the song on garage band, but the quality comes out bad, since its recording whatever comes out of the speakers. Well, i need to mix music and like cut it and stuff but i dont know how!
- You can record real instruments (like a guitar or drum kit) or use one of the virtual instruments that come with GarageBand (like synth, keyboard, or one of the software instruments). Just add a new instrument track for each layer and experiment with creating your very own theme music.

The second one is to download the youtube videos and then convert the YouTube videos to audio format like mp3,m4a and wav etc. With some professional tools or software.

I am new to GB and this discussion page. I have just bought an M-Audio Solo and have everything working correctly -- I think. In preference / sound have both input and output as M - Audio. I have plugged in my guitar and headphones into the interface and can hear the guitar. I can also see the sound signal in the output screen which suggests the sound is being picked up by the mac. GB however does not recognise the guitar, the monitor level is grey/disabled and is on 0 even when I click monitor 'on'. GB will not record the guitar signal. Am I missing something??
